What non-custodial means
Custody is about who controls the coins. At an ordinary crypto casino you send coins to a deposit address the casino controls, and your balance is an entry in its own books until you withdraw. At a non-custodial casino you connect a wallet, sign each bet, and the coins only leave your wallet for that bet, usually through a smart contract.
For the identity side, see no-KYC crypto casinos. For wallet sign-in, see MetaMask casinos.
Custodial vs non-custodial
| Custodial crypto casino | Non-custodial casino | |
|---|---|---|
| Where your balance sits | In the casino's wallets | In your wallet |
| Withdrawal | You request it; the casino approves and sends | No withdrawal step; winnings settle to your wallet |
| If the casino is hacked | Your balance can be lost or frozen | Only funds locked in a bet or approved to a contract are exposed |
| If you lose your keys | Reset your password with the casino | Coins are gone for good |
| Fees | Network fee on deposit and withdrawal | Network fee on every bet placed on-chain |
| Player protection | Licence terms, limits, complaints | Usually only what the code allows |

Getting started safely
- Use a separate wallet Create a wallet only for gambling and move only your budget into it. Your savings stay out of reach of any contract you approve.
- Write the seed phrase down offline On paper or metal, never in a screenshot, cloud note or chat. Nobody legitimate will ever ask for it.
- Check the site address Open the casino from a bookmark. Fake sites copy wallet-connect pages to get approvals or seed phrases.
- Approve only what you bet When the wallet asks for a spending limit, set the amount you plan to play, not unlimited.
- Revoke after you play Use a block explorer or a revoke tool to remove approvals you no longer need, as ethereum.org recommends.
Checking that the games are fair
Holding your own coins does not make a game fair. On-chain games should name the randomness source and publish the contract address. Off-chain games at custodial casinos can be provably fair, where you check each result from the seeds. See provably fair crypto casinos and why smart contracts matter.
Legal and age checks still apply
Gambling laws apply to you wherever you play from, whoever holds the coins. You must be 18 or older, or older where local law says so. Some non-custodial apps block certain countries; using a VPN to get around that can breach their terms and local law. See VPN crypto casinos for the risks and crypto gambling by country for local rules.

Non-custodial casino FAQ
What is a non-custodial crypto casino?
A casino where your coins stay in your own wallet. You connect the wallet, sign each bet, and winnings settle back to it without a withdrawal request.
Is non-custodial the same as no-KYC?
No. Custody is about who holds your coins; KYC is about identity checks. A casino can be one without the other.
Are withdrawals instant?
There is no withdrawal step: winnings arrive when the chain confirms the transaction, so the wait is the block time plus any delay in the game's contract.
Can I recover funds if I lose my seed phrase?
No. Without the seed phrase or private key nobody can restore the wallet. Keep an offline copy somewhere safe.
Do non-custodial casinos charge fees?
You pay the network fee for each on-chain bet, and the game has a house edge. Some also charge a protocol fee, stated in their terms.
Is my money safe from a casino hack?
Coins in your wallet are not exposed to a hack of the casino's own wallets, such as the $7 million taken from Duelbits in September 2026. Funds you approved to a compromised contract can still be at risk.
