What a stablecoin is
A stablecoin is a token that aims to stay worth one unit of a currency, usually one US dollar. The large ones, USDT from Tether and USDC from Circle, are backed by dollar-denominated reserves that the issuer holds with custodians.
At a casino a stablecoin behaves like any other coin: you send it to a deposit address and the cashier credits your balance. The difference is that the balance does not move with the crypto market, so a $500 deposit is still $500 when you withdraw, minus what you lose or win at the tables.
Four kinds of stablecoin
| Type | Backed by | Examples | What to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fiat-backed | Dollar-denominated reserves held by the issuer | USDT, USDC | The issuer can freeze tokens and you rely on its reserves. |
| Crypto-backed | Other crypto locked in smart contracts, over-collateralised | DAI | Collateral can be liquidated in a crash; DAI traded up to $1.11 in March 2020. |
| Commodity-backed | Gold held in custody | PAX Gold, Tether Gold | Tracks the gold price, so the balance moves. Rarely accepted by casinos. |
| Algorithmic | Code that expands and shrinks supply, no full reserve | TerraUSD (failed) | UST lost its peg on 9 May 2022 and fell to about $0.10 within a week. |

For a player the two work the same way. Pick the one your casino and your exchange both support on the same network, so you do not pay a conversion spread twice. See the casinos that accept each on USDT casinos and USDC casinos.
Choose the network before you send
What one USDT deposit costs to send
The network you pick decides the fee, not the coin. The same USDT costs about $2 to send on TRON and well under a cent on Solana at the 6 Oct 2026 snapshot.
| Network | Fee for one transfer | In dollars | Block time |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRON (TRC-20) | 6.5 TRX (13 TRX to an address that has never held USDT) | about $2.18 ($4.37) | 3 s |
| Ethereum (ERC-20) | 0.000029 ETH at 0.458 gwei | about $0.08 | 12 s |
| Solana (SPL) | 0.000005 SOL | under $0.001 | under 1 s |
Indicative snapshot, 6 Oct 2026: TRON 6.5 TRX burned per USDT transfer (65,000 energy at 100 sun, TRON Proposal #104); Ethereum 63,221 gas for a USDT transfer at 0.458 gwei (Etherscan gas tracker); Solana 5,000 lamports per signature (Solana docs). Prices from CoinGecko, 6 Oct 2026. The casino's own minimums and withdrawal fees come on top.
What a stablecoin changes for your bankroll
Worked example from CoinGecko daily BTC prices: $75,590 on 16 Sep and $86,597 on 22 Sep 2026. Fees and game results left out.
Over a session of a few hours the coin move is usually small next to the game. It matters when money sits in a casino account for days, when you clear a bonus slowly, or when you withdraw after a run and the coin has dropped meanwhile. A stablecoin also makes limits easier to keep, because the number on the screen is the number you set.
The risks that remain
- Issuer risk. A fiat-backed coin is only as good as the reserves behind it and the issuer's ability to pay out. USDC's 2023 dip came from one bank failure.
- Freezes. Tether freezes tokens at addresses linked to crime and sanctions, and USDC is controlled by its issuer in the same way. That is used against theft and sanctions, and it also means the coins are not fully in your control.
- Casino risk. A stablecoin balance in a casino account is held by the casino. A hacked or insolvent casino can lose it, whatever coin it is in.
- Regulation. Rules differ by country. In the EU, MiCA (Regulation 2023/1114) sets rules for stablecoin issuers and crypto service providers; in the US the GENIUS Act of July 2025 sets who may issue dollar-backed stablecoins. Neither makes casino play legal where it is not.

Terms
- Peg
- The price a stablecoin aims to hold, usually $1. So what: A coin trading below its peg is worth less than the dollar amount you see.
- Depeg
- When a stablecoin trades away from its peg. So what: Withdraw or swap only when the price is back near $1, unless you need the money now.
- Attestation
- An accountant's check of an issuer's reserves at one point in time. It is narrower than a full audit. So what: It tells you what was held on that date, not that the reserves are safe every day.
- TRC-20 / ERC-20
- Token standards on TRON and Ethereum. USDT exists on both as separate tokens. So what: Match the network on the casino's deposit page exactly.
Stablecoin FAQ
Are stablecoins safe for casino deposits?
They remove price risk from your balance. They do not protect you from the casino itself, from the house edge, or from an issuer problem such as USDC's dip to $0.87 in March 2023. Use a casino you have checked and only deposit what you plan to play.
Which stablecoins do crypto casinos accept?
USDT and USDC are the most common. Some casinos also take DAI or other tokens. Check the cashier: it lists each coin with the networks it accepts.
Which network is cheapest for a USDT deposit?
At the 6 Oct 2026 snapshot, Solana cost well under a cent per transfer, Ethereum about $0.08 at low gas, and TRON about $2.18 (6.5 TRX). Ethereum fees rise sharply when the network is busy, so check the fee your wallet shows before you confirm.
Do casinos charge for stablecoin withdrawals?
Some pass on the network fee or charge a flat fee, some do not. The casino's cashier states its fee and minimum withdrawal; read it before you deposit.
Can a stablecoin issuer freeze my coins?
Yes. Fiat-backed stablecoins are controlled by their issuers, and Tether reported more than $4.4bn frozen in cooperation with law enforcement by April 2026. Funds sent from or to a flagged address can be stuck.
Is a USDT balance protected if the casino fails?
No. A balance in a casino account is held by the casino. A stablecoin protects you from price moves, not from the operator.
Are bonuses paid in stablecoins worth more?
They are easier to value. A bonus paid in USDT keeps its dollar value while you wager it; a bonus paid in BTC moves with the price. The wagering and the game's house edge still decide what it is worth. See crypto casino bonuses.
