The centre catches most balls
What it means: on high risk, the centre slots often pay under your stake, so expect most drops to lose money and a few rare drops to make it back.
In plinko a ball drops through rows of pins and bounces left or right at each one, landing in a slot with a multiplier. The centre slots pay least because most balls land there; the edge slots pay most because almost none do.
The slot odds are pure binomial maths. Below: the chance of the centre and edge slots for common row counts and how each drop can be recomputed.
Short answer
Very. Each ball bounces left or right with equal chance at every row, so one edge slot is hit once in 256 drops with 8 rows and once in 65,536 drops with 16 rows. The risk level changes the multipliers on the slots, not these odds.
Per edge slot; centre slot about 27%.
Per edge slot; centre slot about 23%.
Per edge slot; centre slot about 20%.
The RTP comes from the casino's multiplier table for each row count and risk level; read it in the game.
Left or right at each pin, independent of the last bounce.
The chance of landing in slot k.
The chance of one edge slot with 16 rows.
Moves value from the centre slots to the edges; it does not change where balls land.
Rules
Many centre slots pay under 1x, so most drops return less than you bet.
Slot odds
Binomial odds: the same for every casino. Multipliers per slot differ by casino and risk level.
More rows make the edges far rarer; one extra row halves the chance of each edge slot.
| Rows | Slots | Centre slot | Each edge slot |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 9 | 27.34% | 1 in 256 |
| 12 | 13 | 22.56% | 1 in 4,096 |
| 16 | 17 | 19.64% | 1 in 65,536 |
Computed at a 1.00% house edge, a common setting; each casino states its own edge in the game rules.
Provably fair Example data
A common scheme used by seed-based plinko. Each casino documents how floats become left and right bounces on its fairness page.
The casino fixed the server seed before you chose your client seed, so it could not pick results after seeing your bets.
That the casino will pay a withdrawal, that the edge is low, or that third-party slots are fair.

P(slot k) = C(rows, k) ÷ 2^rows. Computed, not measured.
Method
What we read before a casino appears in the list above.
We read the house edge or RTP the casino states for its plinko game and whether the payout table is published.
We check that the casino documents its provably fair scheme and lets you set your own client seed and rotate the server seed.
We note the licence the casino states and read the bonus terms for game weighting and maximum bets.
We list the coins the casino accepts and the identity checks it states for withdrawals.
We check for deposit limits, loss limits and self-exclusion you can set yourself.
Crypto originals are built in-house, so each casino chooses its own edge and payout table. We read them from the game's info panel instead of marketing copy.
We may earn a commission when you sign up through our links. It does not change the maths on this page.
Glossary
It depends on the casino's multiplier table for your row count and risk level. Many casinos state the RTP in the game info; compare it before you play.
No. The ball lands in each slot with the same chance on every risk level. Risk changes the multipliers printed on the slots.
No. The path follows from your seed pair and nonce, one left or right step per row.
It proves the casino did not change a result after you bet. It does not lower the house edge, and it says nothing about whether the casino pays withdrawals. See our provably fair casinos for how casinos document it.
Any coin the casino accepts plays the same game. A stablecoin such as USDT keeps your balance steady in dollars while you play; a volatile coin adds its own price swing on top of the game's. Network fees differ by chain, see USDT casinos and stablecoins.
It depends on where you live. Many crypto casinos hold an offshore licence and are not licensed in your country. Check local law before you play, and remember crypto deposits cannot be reversed.
